Please take note that the keys and the postal sorting machinery are not compatible.  As a result, most keys can find a small corner of the envelope in which to gain their freedom- and thus get lost in the mail.

 

So, if you are planning to return your key this way, please take the time to duct tape the key to a small index card or piece of cardboard.  Then mail!
